Over the past year a small group of college students and young professionals have been praying and seeking God's direction to minister to their peers. Realizing that there are many questions being asked by their peers, the leadership team, along with the CBC pastoral leadership, envisioned a ministry that would "aim to provide an environment where real discussion about authentic Christianity can be discovered through...
  • Community
  • Authentic Prayer
  • Vibrant Worship

Out of these discussions came the concept for The ROCK. Through solid teaching and discussions brought to us by various leaders in the community and Calvary Baptist Church our goal is to get those who attend a better grasp on the biblical "big picture" as well as the ability to think critically through the personal, community, national and world issues we face. Learning to take the biblical principles and applying them to contemporary issues is not only difficult but often neglected. We want to be characterized as believers who look at culture through the truth of scripture rather than allowing culture to mold our biblical thought.

The ROCK was the name chosen beause it represents Matthew 16:18. Like Christ, a rock is solid and not easily moveable. In the same way, our beliefs and faith should be solid and not easily moveable. The ROCK is not about the leadership team nor Calvary Baptist Church, but rather about the Triune God.

WHY THE ROCK?

The intention of The ROCK is to Equip, Enable and Encourage college students and young professionals to think according to the biblical metanarrative of Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation.

Equip
We desire to equip college students and young professionals by studying a variety of topics that are pertinent to our demographics. Such topics will include an in-depth look at the Lord's Prayer, knowing God and His character, Grace, as well as intense discussion on worldview, led by other renown and respected leaders from CBC and the surrounding community.

Enable
We desire to enable college students and young professionals to become active members of their churches. The intent of the discussions held at The ROCK would cause great desire in those that come to more effectively build into their churches, colleges, and workplaces. We intend to help in this process with resources available to us as well as creating opportunities to serve within the ministry.

Encourage
We desire to encourage college sutdents and young professionals during the hard times we all face in our daily lives as we seek to live a life after Christ. We are commanded through scripture to "carrying each others burdens," and through this ministry, that is our desire.
